Tim Ho Wan located in Mon Kok, HK is a dim sum shop that received a one Michelin star in 2011. This restaurant is the world's cheapest Michelin starred restaurant and has a reputation of a three hour wait! Instead of joining the craziness, we decided to check out the other outlet located at IFC. Even at 10:30am, we waited for 45 mins before getting a table for 5.
The man behind Tim Ho Wan is Mak Pui Gor who was a former dim sum chef at Lung King Heen, a Michelin three-starred restaurant at the Four Seasons Hotel in Hong Kong.

The roll was hand crafted, translucent skin and freshly steamed!

BBQ Pork Bun (Char Siu Bao) - a signature dish. Instead of a normal steam BBQ bun, Tim Ho Wan bakes it. The outer crust is crunchy and sweet with the bbq pork as filling inside.

Although, it was overall really good dim sum, the ambiance of a usual dim sum restaurant was just not there. We were seated elbow to elbow at a long table crammed with others like at a fast food joint. If you are willing to wait and seat comfort level is not an issue, then this is the place to go for good quality dim sum.
