Ghent, Belgium

In every little town there's always a waffle sandwich shop around the corner.

We ordered plain sugar waffle without any toppings and it turned out to be amazing!  Golden yellow, thick and dense in texture, this waffle was finger lingin' good!

So simple and yet so good!

What makes it so great is that you can eat as you stroll through the cobblestone streets of this quaint little town.

Chez Leon

Brussels, Belgium

An attractive, old-fashioned room with lots of tile and early 20th century styling, Chez Leon is well known and centrally located in the touristy area near the Grote Markt and Grande Place serving classic moules dishes and distinguished beer.

We've read that this is a classic place to sample Belgian cuisine and mussel.  The atmosphere is light and casual.  We've been told that locals also pay their visit, however it seemed more like a tourist trap than anything else.

Funambule Waffles

Funambule Waffles
Brussels, Belgium

By far the best waffles we've had ever was at this establishment, near the famous Manneken Pis.

With all kinds of toppings, the waffle was divine!  Amazingly fluffy and chewy.

The replica of the Manneken Pis eating a waffle.

The waffle was served on a plastic plate, which made it difficult for eating compared to being sandwiched between crepe paper.  However, the chewiness of the waffle was heavenly - which was all it matters...

La Fontaine

La Fontaine
Brussels, Belgium

Cold and lost at 9pm on our first night in Brussels, we stumbled upon this cute restaurant at the corner of the street next to the EU headquarter.

It may appear to be emptied inside the restaurant, but nevertheless, it was one good beer!

Perch Fillet with a Lobster Bisque Sauce

As simple as it may looked, this is one of the richest lobster bisque sauce mixed with tiny fresh shrimps I've ever had.  Bravo.

Flemish Beef Stew with a side of Belgian fries.

Soft tender beef stew, the sauce was also rich and tasted spectacular.

One surprisingly solid good meal.
The wonderful taste was still lingering in our mind the morning after.
