Plumed Horse

Saratoga, CA
Chef: Peter Armellino

Recipient of:
Wine Spectator's Best award of Excellence
One Michelin star

A long standing restaurant located in Saratoga since 1952, Plumed Horse was remodeled recently by Walid Mando of FORMA LLC, who also redesigned Fleur de Lys and La Folie in San Francisco.  One of its most dramatic interior is a modern three story glass encased wine cellar that housed 2000 bottles.

You can see through the glass below

Kona Kampachi, Tsar Nicoulai caviar, smoked trout roe, Buddha's hand

~

Black Pepper & Parmesan Soufflé, uni & Dungeness crab fondue

A signature dish of Plumed Horse - though very innovative, it was salty and heavy on the stomach. The fondue taste overpowered the uni.

~

Mushroom bisque, lovage, brioche roll, truffle creme friache

This was exceptional.  The mushroom bisque was rich in texture and in taste and the brioche was light.

Petit Fours

We had a bit higher expectation from his beautiful contemporary establishment.  Food was overall excellent however the service was slow.  Our waiter did not ask us about our dietary restrictions and the flow of the whole meal was longer than expected given our 9pm reservation.
