home cooked comfort food

so we went home for the holidays to spend time with family & friends. and of course, i wanted to eat at home as often as i can. unbelievably, i miss home cooked food soooo much. while growing up, my dinner at home from mon - fri would always be 3 dishes (fish, meat and veggie) and chinese soup. even though everyday would be a different dish and soup, i really hated this setup cause it was soooo boring. however, now that i don't get to eat it, nor do I cook as well as aida or mom, i miss it sooo much

another thing i miss alot is my nanny's home-made wonton soup in clear broth. it's simple and yet so tasty.  i especially love the wonton skin, it's silky thin and soft and it melts in your mouth.  the filling consists of veggie and meat.  simple and scrumptious.

this dish was made from scratch by aida with taro and chicken.  it's so good that the taro melts in your mouth. and the sauce can be eaten with rice.  alsolutely tantalizing.

this is a usual 燒臘 dish from the local butcher shop.

simple fried pomfret. this fish is delectable when cooked the right way. the key is to select a large fish and slice it into thick pieces.  so when you eat it, you can feel the meaty texture.
