Baker Street Bistro

Marina, San Francisco

A neighborhood French bistro fare, located within the residential part of the Marina area.

The bread was cold and the texture was rather hard and tough.

An open kitchen concept where we had the opportunity to watch the chefs in action.

Salade du Sud-Ouest
Fresh pan-seared foie-gras and smoked duck breast on top of a bed of mix greens with pine nuts and duck gizzard confit

I've never had seared foie gras with salad before, although it sounded like an odd combination but I thought it blended in quite well with the mix green and duck.

Canard à l’Orange
Duck breast, orange sauce with crispy polenta & sautéed spinach

With an added piece of foie gras on top for an additional price

Sidewalk seating on a quiet neighborhood street

We came here mainly for their wide variety of  pan-seared foie gras that was offered in salad, appetizer and entrée.  However, we were a little disappointed in the quality of food.  The foie gras was not up to our expectation.  The texture itself should be soft and creamy, but instead, it was on the rougher side and the taste was flat.   The ambiance of the bistro on the other hand was warm and intimate, just like you would imagine for a local neighborhood eatery.
