Oola

SOMA, San Francisco
Chef: Ola Fendert

This bistro specializes in Californian food with a French flair featuring organic meats and vegetables.  It was also selected by Bon Appetit Magazine as one of the "Top 50 Hot Spots" around the country.   A former chef of Chez Papa and Plouf, Ola Fendert has turned this quiet spot into a chic setting in SOMA.  Opened for late night hours, this is a perfect place for people watching at night accompanied by a great glass of wine.

Inside this sleek split level trendy bistro, the decor uses recycled wood, exposed stone and rustic looking fixtures producing an alluring sexy atmosphere.

Parmesan & Truffle Fries
Insanely addictive with an intense truffle taste!

Foie Gras Ravioli Spinach, Roasted Chicken broth and Truffle oil

A pretty innovative dish with rich and creamy foie gras in the ravioli.  The ravioli  posessed a very robust flavor so it didn't need a heavy sauce that dominates – let the ravioli do the talking!

Coffee roasted confit of Duck Port Cardomom sauce and Pear Potato Ragout

The duck was soft with a zesty coffee taste

Seared MahiMahi Ratatouille, Tapenade and Basile Parsley oil

Tender and slightly raw

Although, the dishes were well executed, but the menu sounded more exciting than what was actually presented on the plate.  The portions were a bit small but still a great choice if you want to chill in this intimate trendy atmosphere with suede banquettes.
