Tosca

Kowloon, Ritz Carlton,
Hong Kong

Chef: Vittorio Lucariello

Located on the 102/F of the world's highest hotel, Tosca is named after one the most loved operas of all time offering Southern Italian cuisine.  \

The ground floor of the lobby at Ritz Carlton as we entered the hotel.

We took the elevator up to the check-in registration floor at 103/F, then took the escalator down one story to the restaurant.

The design of the restaurant is by Japan's Spin Design Studios.  The restaurant's interior is composed around the concept of water, symbolizing the bond with sea and the restaurant's specialty in Italian seafood.  It is translated into chic and modern decor with small fountains to glazed interior windows.

An open kitchen design

Chef Lucariello brought a classical menu to Tosca, ensuring traditional Italian ingredients mostly sourced from Italy.

Spaghetti with tomato sauce and spicy n'duja

~

Tagliatelle with basil pesto, string beans and potatoes

Homemade pumpkin tortelloni, tangerine mustard and walnut sage sauce

~

Slow braised beef cheek, white polenta, green peas and onion

~

Spring chicken with Parma ham and sage, potato puree and porcini mushrooms

Tiramisu

This is Tosca;s signature dessert, made with illy coffee, homemade crumbled cookies and Italian eggs creating a yellowish colored cream.  The dish was well balanced, lots of chocolate goodness and not too bitter.  It definitely lived up to the Tosca standard.

Food was average compare to other restaurants in the same category.  However, with the stunning  view from 102nd floor,  flawless service and a dramatic entrance/decor, this is
a place to celebrate any special occasion.
