San Francisco, CA
Chef: Pamela Mazzola
We came here with the family for a little birthday celebration after a day of fun up north of San Francisco. Prospect is opened by Nancy Oakes of Boulevard, one of the most popular restaurants in San Francisco, who decided that she and her team are ready to open a second restaurant in a more casual dining environment.
After being greeted at the door, you will find yourself at the sleek looking bar in the big open space.
My mom and I ordered hot water and it came in a tray with 2 separate teapots.
Buffalo Carpaccio with Crispy & Seared Monterey Calamari
Green Garlic Aioli, Green Garlic Salsa Verde
The calamari in this dish seemed to be taking the center of attention. It was fresh and sealed to perfection. The buffalo carpaccio also stood out for its paper-thin beauty.

Foie Gras Torchon
Citrus Marmalade
Firelit Coffee Gelée
Dulce de Leche, Cacao Nibs
Toasted Brioche
Presented with cacao nibs sprinkled on the foie gras torchon,
Citrus Marmalade and Firelit Coffee Gelée
Innovative accompaniment to the foie gras torchon. I especially liked the pairing of citrus marmalade but was not a fan of the cacao nibs nor the coffee gelée.

A special knife is presented to us for our main course.
McCormack Ranch Goat Three Ways
Fregola with Fresh Herbs & Bolognese Sauce, Baby Artichokes with Mint Salsa Verde
Erbette Chard, Sunchoke Puree, Sunchoke Chips, Goat Jus
Prepared in three different ways, the goat was consistently tender and tasty.

Storm Hill Beef New York Steak
Fondant French Fingerlings, Bloomsdale Spinach, French Cheddar Fonduta
Red Beets in Browned Butter, Horseradish Vinaigrette & Beef Jus
The steak on the other hand, looked better than how it actually tasted. Even though it appeared to be prepare medium rare, just the way we requested it, however the meat was tough and chewy.

Farm to Family Petaluma Chicken Breast & Confit Chicken Thigh
Crispy Golden Cauliflower, Butter Braised Romesco, Cauliflower Puree
Farro with Cauliflower Florets, Pickled Ramp Vinaigrette, Chicken Jus
The chicken was cooked to perfection.

Liberty Duck
Smoked Oats, Baby Leeks, Lacinato Kale, Kumquat-Fennel Relish
Caramelized Kumquat Glaze, Oat Streusel, Foie Gras Sauce
~
Even though we ordered one dessert only, but our waiter placed plates and utensils for the whole table to encourage each one of us to take a bite. Very thoughtful.
Chocolate Hazelnut Mousse
Frangelico Brownie, Mascarpone Mousse, Cherry Compote
Brandied Cherry Ice Cream
Frangelico Brownie, Mascarpone Mousse, Cherry Compote
Brandied Cherry Ice Cream
Real hazelnut!
The mousse was excellent with just the right amount of mousse, hazelnut, chocolate and brownie.
Prospect was a solid American restaurant offering dishes that may not necessarily be new or different, but they definitely possessed a few gems on their menu that were worth a try.
Service was impeccable, spacious modern interior with easy parking made this a very enjoyable dining experience. The only disappointing factor was that our waiter boxed up our leftover chicken and duck, but when we arrived home we only found the duck dish and the chicken was nowhere to be found. We really wanted more of the chicken.....
