Les Amis

Orchard, Singapore
Chef de Cuisine: Armin Leitgeb

Les Amis currently holds number 55 position on San Pellegrino World's Best Restaurant
Singapore's only restaurant to have won Wine Spectator's Grand Award.

This flagship restaurant of the Les Amis Group is an internationally celebrated local eatery for numerous years.  Chef Leitgeb worked his way through the ranks in various European Michelin-starred kitchens.   This is evident in his dishes showcasing his craftsmanship and skill.   This award winning establishment is arguably the best French restaurant in Singapore.

We came here with a group of old uni friends to celebrate Christmas.  We were presented with the Festive prix fixe lunch menu on top of its usual daily menu.  The maitre'd explained thoroughly to us on the process of selecting our dishes from the menu.

I didn't take a picture of it but a little specially made ottoman can be found at your table just to hold your bags of shopping or ladies’ handbags while you dine at their restaurant.

Aside from the superb and inventive menu, Les Amis has also been designed to impress even the most discerning critic.  The interior is understated and yet classy boasting a jolt of whimsy with an Art Nouveau  design throughout.  Elegant Christofle silverware and Zwiesel wine glasses complemented the clean crisp linen and porcelain on every table featuring the art of this fine dining establishment.

Amuse Bouche on the house:
Iberico Jamón tarte flambée

It was a pleasant surprise to us that they serve jamón here. Having tried all sorts of Jamón in Spain, we thought this was just as outstanding as the ones we've had at Jamonisimo.   Simply Amazing.

Double boiled beef broth
bone marrow, vegetables and sliced pancakes

The consommé was light and crystal clear with a very rich beef flavor.  Filled with lots of fresh vegetables that were all perfectly sliced into tiny cubes and thinly sliced egg pancakes, it truly brought out the flavor with the compliments of the bone marrow. Superb.

This is evident that Les Amis was given the Wine Spectator Grand Award for the unrivaled selection of great wines found in the cellars.  Housing more than 2000 labels of wines in two temperature-controlled cellars,  This exquisite cellar is found on the lower level of the restaurant right across from the private dining room. The private dining room is amazing with direct views of the kitchen so you can watch the chefs at what they do best.

This was truly a divine gastronomical experience.  Each meal is treated with a clever lightness with a subline taste sensations.  Every dish is light, clean and refine with little embellishment but plenty of flavor.  The intricacy of its presentation was phenomenal!  The whole experience excited us but was not overwhelming.
