Founded in 2003 by Phil Jaber, Philz coffee is now the latest talk of the town. The company is known for their "one cup at a time" coffee brewing technique where they offer a wide selection of unique coffee blends that they individually make by the cup.
These special blends are the result of 25 years of coffee alchemy and invention by Phil and his son Jacob. There are layers of secret ingredients that are not publicly revealed, only Phil and Jacob know the recipes. However, the host of "secret" ingredients that go into various cups of Philz coffee include but not limited to: cardamom, manufacturing cream (a special fattier cream ), brown sugar, fresh mint and freshly ground coffee beans for every cup. Philz coffee adds a tremendous amount of flavor to the cup using 3x normal beans per cup as compared to other cafes.
This place is a little intimidating if you don’t know much about coffee simply because there are so many choices, but the barista was incredibly friendly. He even added more froth and a piece of mint for decoration when he saw me taking pictures of the drink.
This is arguably the best coffee in the Bay Area.
