Txoko

North Beach, San Francisco

I was curious about Txoko, pronounced as "Cho-ko", a new Basque named restaurant in the former Enrico's space on Broadway.   (Enrico's sign is displayed)  It is situated next to big neon signs signaling
the entrances to various strip clubs and ironically it is also several blocks away from the upscale Jackson Square scene.

It has forest lighting in the interios with wrought iron chandeliers.

I made a reservation two weeks in advance for a party of 4 thinking that the restaurant would be packed.  To my disappointment there were some empty tables.

In general the food was well executed.  However with a Basque name, the dishes do not appear to reflect the flavors from Basque country and we were also expecting more pintxos on the menu.
