My friend E suggested driving out to Tomales Bay for a little picnic by the water, eat freshly shucked oysters and coincidentally for a birthday celebration. The Farm doesn't charge patrons for the use of the tables, available at a first come first serve basis for a maximum party of 10. So we got there early to beat the crowd.
Tomales Bay Oysters farm is huge with several separate areas filled with picnic tables and grills. Since it's right by the bay, most tables have an excellent view. Specializing in fresh, farmed oysters as well as mussels and clams from the waters of Tomales Bay (and the Pacific Northwest), Tomales Bay Oyster are sold by the size. To start off the day, we bought a bag of small for raw consumption and medium for the grill.
The only difficult part is that the shucking is DIY. The oyster was fresh and sweet.
With the countless other delectables that everyone brought for the BBQ, we all feasted like there was no
tomorrow. FUN.
