Tres by José Andrés

Tres by José Andrés
Beverly Hills, CA

Designed By Philippe Starck

Since we were in LA, we wanted to try a José Andrés' establishment. Located at the swanky SLS Hotel, we walked into a nice Vegas style entrance.  with dark toned interior, a fire place and glitzy chandeliers etc.  We felt we were totally under-dressed for a "casual" brunch date with K & D.  Nonetheless, it seemed like the maître d' still welcomed us.

They were also able to accommodate us with a nice corner with comfy couches so that our toddler son can run around with additional space for our stroller with our baby infant girl.

A real twist of surprise with 12 quail eggs.  Love the idea and execution.

The price was a bit steep compare to other brunch places, but the presentation and ambiance was well worth the price.

The cottage

The Cottage
Carmel, CA

Our little private corner for a table of 6+

A cute quaint family run restaurant located right at Carmel by the sea.    Even with its prime location, we still had trouble looking for the joint.   Perhaps it's the lack of sign for the restaurant.  Regardless, food was good but service was s-l-o-w.

Tasty n Alder

Downtown Portland, OR

SIL took us here for a nice brunch on a sunny Monday in the Fall.  To my surprise, we have to wait for a bit for a table because it was hustling and bustling.

Bim Bop Bacon & eggs "stir like crazy"

Run by non-Asian, this dish tasted amazingly good and authentic.
