Phnom Penh

Chinatown, Seattle

Phnom Penh was our first stop right after arriving at the airport.  L wanted to walk down memory lane as this was a usual spot that he would patronize when he was studying in this town.

Hay Cung

Phnom Penh Special Rice Noodle
Gulf prawn, calamari, fish cakes, fish balls, sliced and ground pork served with thin rice noodles and finished with green onion, cilantro, and roasted garlic

Mee Katang Phnom Penh
Gulf prawns, scallops, calamari, fish cakes, chicken breast & pork sautéed with Chinese broccoli, shiitake mushrooms, and carrots

This dish was superb! They first pan-fried the noodle with soy sauce before submerging it in with the rest of the ingredients.  It brought out the best flavors.

Cambodian BBQ
Pub Street Alley
Siem Reap, Cambodia

Recommneded by the "Lonely Planet"

With the BBQ menu, they include Khmer fried rice and 3 different sauces for dipping.

A mix set including ostrich, crocodile and snake!

Service was great as the staff actually helped us butter the pan and barbequed the meat for us.

Les Orientalistes
Khmer,French
Siem Reap, Cambodia

Being a French colony before, we thought going to a French restaurant in Siem Reap would make sense.

The restaurant is located away from the the central market and restaurants in Siem reap.  The place was very quiet and hard to find in the dark.  It has a cute quaint setting and decorated with middle eastern carpets. A definite bargain for a very good fusion of Khmer and French cuisine.

Angkor famous bar and restaurant

Right after we were seated, we got a basket of free popcorn! =)

Beef noodle

Grill Fish

Egg noodle in soup

The restaurant itself was small and it was painted a bright orange with really cheap drinks.

We got a free plate of fruits but did not finish it as we're not sure how long it was sitting out for.

Open-air street view seating - great for people watching.
